Rose and Rosette: Our Life with Albinism
Challenges and Triumphs of Raising Twins with Albinism
I am a mother of twin daughters, both with albinism. Their father has left us, and since then, I have been taking care of both my girls on my own. Life has been challenging as we struggle to make ends meet. I cannot afford to buy the necessary protective clothing, glasses, or sunscreen for my children. As a result, they have started to develop sunburns, and their skin has begun to show dark spots.
Despite these difficulties, I am determined to provide the best possible life for my daughters. I have been reaching out to various organizations and support groups for help, but the process is slow and often disheartening. In the meantime, I try to keep my children indoors during the peak sunlight hours and ensure they wear whatever protective gear we have.
Living with albinism means facing a unique set of challenges, from the physical effects of sun exposure to the social stigma and misunderstandings surrounding the condition. I am constantly educating myself and others about albinism to create a more inclusive and understanding environment for my daughters.
My ultimate goal is to raise awareness about albinism and advocate for better access to resources and support for families like ours. I believe that with the right tools and knowledge, my daughters can lead happy, healthy lives, and I will continue to fight for their well-being every day.
Living and Thriving with Autism: Our Journey
Raising Awareness and Seeking Support
As a mother of a son with autism, our journey has been filled with challenges, learning, and growth. When my son was born, I had no understanding of what autism was. His constant crying, meltdowns, and seemingly erratic behavior left me feeling desperate, panicked, and at a loss for what to do. There were moments when I considered admitting him to a mental health facility, fearing that he was going mad.
Yet, it was through the guidance of a dear friend that I began to see the light. She educated me about autism and encouraged me to seek a proper diagnosis for my son. The process of getting a diagnosis was anything but straightforward. I faced numerous obstacles and delays, which led me to take matters into my own hands. I started researching and discovered that my son’s behaviors were consistent with autism traits. This newfound knowledge empowered me to support him better while we awaited an official diagnosis.
In the past year, we finally received the confirmation we had been seeking: my son was officially diagnosed with autism. This diagnosis brought clarity and direction to our lives. Living with autism means navigating a unique set of challenges. It demands patience, understanding, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge.
In the meantime, I have dedicated myself to providing the best possible care for my son. I ensure that he has the necessary support and resources to thrive. My ultimate goal is to raise awareness about autism, advocate for better access to resources, and support families like ours. I firmly believe that with the right tools and knowledge, my son can lead a happy, healthy life. I will continue to fight for his well-being every day.
Join me on this journey as we navigate the world of autism together. Let’s raise awareness, seek support, and create a more inclusive and understanding environment for all children with autism.
Remember, education is crucial. The more we learn and share, the better equipped we are to support our loved ones.
Thank you for being a part of our story.

Benefit cut will hit 700 000 families in UK
The government’s proposed cuts to disability benefits are poised to affect 700,000 families already living in poverty. This alarming statistic, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, complements the government’s impact assessment from March, which projected an additional 250,000 individuals plunging below the poverty line due to the cuts.
According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), 3.2 million families across Great Britain will be adversely affected by these plans by 2029/2030, roughly three years after the cuts are scheduled to be implemented. Of these affected families, 700,000 are already considered to be in relative poverty, accounting for housing costs (Guardian,2025)

Entertainment
Call the Midwife(2012)
It is an exquisite film to watch on the YouTube channel since its debut in 2012. It has been quite an enlightening journey. The series, set in the 1970s, draws inspiration from real-life events. One particularly notable character is Reggie Jackson, who has Down syndrome and is portrayed by Daniel Laurie, an actor who also has Down syndrome in real life. It is truly commendable that a character with a learning disability is featured in a prime-time drama series, especially as a recurring role rather than a one-time appearance. The series not only entertains but also offers a meaningful commentary on the importance of inclusivity in the society. A must watch series!
